Merle Topsi Davis has been called the “Queen of Recycling”.
Sincethe 1970s she has upcycled discarded materials in her textile art practice from sculpture, print making, creating baskets, cards and wearable art clothing, drawing awareness to world over consumerism and pollution and its effect on the natural environment.

Merle Davis of Topsi Designs Upcycling searches Op shops, garage sales and markets for natural fibre jackets,shirts etc. that may never sell and end in landfill. These are then washed, dyed, printed and appliqued with other discarded fabrics, laces, doileys etc into a unique, wearable art piece. "Unwanted becomes Wanted again!"
Recently her work has contained messages about Fast Fashion.
